Kathy MoscouKathy Moscou, BScPhm, MPH, RPh

Kathy Moscou is Lecturer/Program Manager, International Pharmacy Graduate (IPG) Program at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto.  She holds BSc Pharmacy and Master’s of Public Health (International health) degrees from the University of Washington, USA and is currently pursuing a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy.

Kathy has over 25 years experience working in community pharmacy practice. Kathy is a licensed pharmacist in Ontario, Canada and Washington, USA, and is a practicing pharmacist with Shoppers Drug Mart.  She has extensive experience in program administration, teaching, and curriculum development that spans 3 countries (United States, South Africa, and Canada). She has developed pharmacy curriculum for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and recently developed University of Toronto IPG satellite program in Egypt. She is co-coordinator for IPG program’s Therapeutics course and Canadian Practical Experience (CPE) mentorship program.  Kathy lectures on selected topics in therapeutics.

Kathy is a member of National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) Advisory Working Group (AWG) for the International Pharmacy Graduates’ Gateway to Canada Project. The AWG is providing guidance on the development of tools to help IPGs determine their preparedness and assess their readiness for licensure to practice in Canada, and to help IPGs identify additional learning needs and to prepare a plan to satisfy learning goals.
 
Kathy’s research interests are in the area of global pharmaceutical policies for post market drug safety. The specific focus of her research is international strategies for pharmacovigilance and pharmacosurveillance.

Kathy MoscouDoris Kalamut, BScPhm, RPh

A graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto, Doris Kalamut has been teaching at the Faculty since 1981. She has been able to draw on her experience as a community pharmacist while teaching courses in communication skills, experiential education, professional practice, pharmaceutics, and patient self-care.

Doris Kalamut has been actively involved with the Faculty's International Pharmacy Graduate (IPG) program, since its development in 2001. She is the Course Coordinator/lecturer the program's Communication Skills in Pharmacy Practice course and the experiential Canadian Practical Experience mentorship program, as well as a lecturer in the Professional Practice and Pharmacy Management course.

Doris Kalamut is also the Course Coordinator for the Year 1 and Year 2 Professional Practice Laboratory courses and coordinated the Community and Hospital Pharmacy Experiential components in these courses.

A firm believer of life-long learning, Doris Kalamut continuously enrols in professional development programs which allow her to explore her interests on the implementation of knowledge into professional practice in a variety of pharmacy settings. Her professional research interests include experiential learning and mentoring, patient safety, inter-professional communication and education.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Doris Kalamut serves on the Jurisprudence and Peer Review committees of the Ontario College of Pharmacists; is a Presiding Officer of both written (MCQ) and oral (OSCE) examinations for the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada; and is an executive member of the Metropolitan Toronto Pharmacists Association.

Tim Mickleborough, BScPhm, RPh

Tim received his pharmacy undergraduate degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1989 and since then has worked in a variety of community pharmacy settings including retail and out-patient hospital pharmacy.  Tim joined the IPG program in 2002 and has taken on a variety of roles such as IPG acting program manager and the coordination of two IPG pilot projects in Ottawa and Cairo, Egypt.  

Tim is the coordinator for the PC skills and Self Care courses.  At the present moment, Tim is completing his Masters in Education at the University of Toronto.  His research interests include online and distance learning, English for Specific Purposes, sociology of the professions and experiential learning.

Mahmoud SuleimanMahmoud Suleiman, BScPhm, RPh

Mahmoud has been involved with the IPG program since 2005 and is currently the coordinator for the Professional Practice & Pharmacy Management Theory course. His involvement in the program has focussed on easing the transition for foreign pharmacists into the Canadian health care system. He is also currently involved in teaching in the undergraduate pharmacy program in the first and second year professional practice labs. Aside from being an instructor with the Faculty of Pharmacy, he is also a student, pursuing his Masters in Education at the University of Toronto with a focus on teaching health professionals.

Outside of the Faculty, Mahmoud is a practicing pharmacist who has spent the past number of years managing pharmacies in the community setting. More recently, he has taken on a position with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a registration advisor with a focus on the Structured Practical Training program for pharmacy students, interns and pharmacy technicians.

Vincent Teo, BScPhm, PharmD

Vincent completed his BScPhm at the University of Toronto in 2000.  After completing a hospital practice residency at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in 2001, he accepted a position to remain there as the Clinical Pharmacist on the Clinical Teaching Unit – Internal Medicine.  He subsequently returned to complete his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Duquesne University in 2009.

Currently, Vincent is the Emergency Pharmacist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where he provides patient care in a fast-paced environment to acutely ill patients.  He also provides patient education, health care provider education, and is involved with improving patient safety and quality assurance.

Current professional areas of interest include emergency medicine, toxicology, drug interactions, clinical pharmacy teaching models, and interdisciplinary education.

Vincent has been a co-coordinator of Therapeutics for the International Graduates Program (IPG) since 2006.  He has also served as a Teaching Assistant for PHM329H1 and PHM429H1.  Vince is active in clinical education and has served as a preceptor to SPEP students and pharmacy residents.  He has been the recipient of an SPEP TA Award and a Sunnybrook Clinical Teaching Award.

Amita Woods, BScPhm, PharmD

Amita completed her BScPhm at the U of T in 2000, followed by a hospital pharmacy residency at Hamilton Health Sciences Centre in 2001. After working at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre she returned to complete her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the U of T in 2004.

As part of the multidisciplinary Antimicrobial Stewardship team she is involved in establishing initiatives that foster improved antimicrobial use, lower antimicrobial resistance, increase patient safety and save costs. Another major part of this role involves patient education, and monitoring for adverse effects, toxicity and drug interactions.

Formerly, Amita was an Advanced Practice Clinical Pharmacist in a community pharmacy setting. Amita established a unique clinical practice, liasing with general practitioners and patients/ families to provide pharmaceutical care to clients within the geographical area. Amita's clinical experience also includes two years as a clinical pharmacy specialist in the Emergency Department of a tertiary teaching hospital.

Amita has been a co-coordinator of therapeutics for the International Pharmacy Graduate Program since 2005. She also serves in a part-time capacity at the Faculty to co-coordinate the PHM321 course, as well as lecture in PHM 421. Amita acts as a facilitator for therapeutics in the Pharm D program and has been a preceptor to both Pharm D and SPEP students in her various practices.

Amita also represents CSHP as National Faculty for the Implementation of the Guideline on Safe and Effective Use of Opioids for Chronic Non-cancer Pain developed by the National Opioid Use Guideline Group.

Clinical / professional/ research interests include: infectious diseases, emergency medicine, pharmacy practice models, teaching methodology and assessment styles.

Tim Fleming

Tim Fleming is the Past President & CEO of the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians (CAPT). He is currently employed at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto as the Professional Practice Lab Coordinator for the International Pharmacy Graduate Program. In addition he is also active in the language of Patient Counselling class and the Patient Counselling Skills Course. Prior to this, he taught the Community Dispensing Practices Course and Compounding Labs in the Pharmacy Technician Program at Centennial College in Toronto. Tim was also the Pharmacy Innovation Coordinator for Pharmasave Ontario for five years; responsible for pharmacy team training, dispensing software training and support and professional services development and implementation in member pharmacies across Ontario. He developed and conducted numerous training seminars and workshops for member pharmacy teams.

Tim has been actively involved with numerous pharmacy related projects and initiatives across the country including: Management Committee and National Advisory Committee member for Moving Forward, Pharmacy Human Resources for the Future, The Blueprint for Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician Working Group of the Ontario College of Pharmacists, the Board of Directors for the Canadian Council for Continuing Education in Pharmacy, and the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada Steering Committee for the National Pharmacy Technician Exam as well as the Programme Advisory Committee for the Pharmacy Technician Programme at Niagara College in Welland, ON.

The IPG program provides students the most up-to-date information about all aspects of pharmacy practice from pharmacists specializing in the subjects they teach.
