Professional Practice & Pharmacy Management II

This series of lectures, tutorials, seminars and self-study will provide learners with exposure to professional practice theory in Ontario. Federal and provincial pharmacy legislation, practice management issues, pharmacy calculations and selected pharmacy topics encompass this course. Workplace Success is defined as the ability to competently function in a professional practice setting, knowledgeable and cognizant of both the structural and behavioural parameters that define contemporary pharmacy practice.This course is linked to Advanced Professional Practice Labs, where learners are expected to apply lecture theory in a laboratory setting. The following sessions comprise the course:

Course content is divided into three integrated sections:

1) Professional Practice

Jurisprudence Lecture Series
Delivered by staff members from the Ontario College of Pharmacists, lecture topics encompass federal and provincial legislation with respect to pharmacy practice in Ontario.

Format: 3 hour large group lectures

Pharmacy calculations:
Completing the pharmaceutical calculations on the milestone with 100% accuracy is an exit requirement for the Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Management course.

This lecture series exposes students to current trends and issues in the Canadian health care system, with a focus on pharmacy practice and management issues, in both community and hospital settings.
