Pharmaceutical Care - Applied Therapeutics Lecture Series
Therapeutics in CPS II continues with the previous structure and objectives as CPS I. This course is designed to enhance the pharmacists' basic knowledge of pharmacotherapy and integrate it with acquired problem solving skills. Didactic sessions, accompanied by discussion of patient scenarios, will give the learner the opportunity to gain an understanding of specific chronic disease states and the management of drug-related problems commonly encountered in pharmacy practice. The student will be required to apply recently acquired knowledge to a problem-solving framework in order to create care plans for the patient scenarios. Students will be required to explain and justify any proposed intervention in their care plans in a concise and comprehensive manner – verbally or in written form. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to assume responsibility for the common issues arising in the management of a patient's drug therapy.
